The Aragon dynasty was the first Royal House of unified Spain after Isabella of Castille and Ferdinand of Aragon united the country through conquest and marriage. Their dynasty is soon succeeded by the Spanish Habsburg dynasty; a marriage alliance with the Austrian Habsburgs results in Charles V (Ferdinand and Isabella's grandson) inheriting both the Spanish and Austrian kingdoms, making him the most powerful monarch in Europe.
